The Telegraph reports that the UK government is planning on recording every website visited, email sent and phone call made of every person in the UK. Of course, this will be used to help defend against the evil terrorists that are plaguing us. Oh wait, the last 2 plots were foiled by a drunk and a taxi driver who only suffered a bruised shin.
We don’t need this at all. It will accomplish nothing. The government is not to be trusted with our data. They only recently lost cds containing personal information about benefits.
What I do is absolutly nobody’s business except my own. For those folk who say “I have nothing to hide so I have nothing to fear,” FUCK YOU! How would you like some random government person watching you 24 hours a day? Watching you at work, with your friends, in the shower, with your sgnificant other. Cause thats where it will lead. Am I paranoid? Possibly. Doesn’t mean I’m wrong.

I was browsing my slashdot feed when a story jumped out at me “Teenager faces prosecution for calling Scientology cult” (BIGASS WARNING: the placard link goes to a goatse image). This was during one of the protests in London.
“Following advice from the Crown Prosecution Service some demonstrators were warned verbally and in writing that their signs breached section five of the Public Order Act.
“One demonstrator continued to display a placard despite police warnings and was reported for an offence under section five. A file on the case will go to the CPS.”
Public Order Act?! WHAT THE FUCK?!?!?!?! That is retarded. I thought we had charges lie “Breach of the peace” that are used when folk are being aggressive and threatening.
Oh, for the record, Scientology is a cult. An evil, dangerous, CULT. If that is not clear enough,

I love Python. So clean and elegant. Loops are simple:

There is no hassle with curly braces either, though I do think they make things look prettier (but that is just syntactic sugar)
Been working on my robot code, split it up into modules. Was piss easy with Python. I need to get my hands on some form of chassis and an interface between it and my portable deck (which will run the code).
Backup weblog sorted

For a while I had a backup weblog for when my site was down for some reason. Fortunatly, it was never used and was lying dormant. I remembered about a Wordpress plugin that lets Wordpress installs crosspost to Livejournal weblogs (what my backup weblog is). So I went and installed it. The cool thing is it seems to have crossposted all the entries on this weblog which is pretty cool.
So now I have another solution in case things really go sideways with this weblog. No one will be kicking me off the net any time soon. You can take my packets from my cold dead hands (by which time I hope we have technology to transfer consiousness into the net)

Came across a nice site a while ago, only recently started using it properly. It is called EmpowerThySelf.com and was created by Alex Peake. it is pretty cool, lots of good ideas. Upgrades

Just got a package with a few upgrades for my decks. Both now have 2Gb of RAM and Trinity now has a firewire card which lets me get video off the dv camera for editing. Having a dual core deck at 2.2Ghz with a fair chunk of RAM is a lot better than the previous system I was using (Freya, Apple iBook with 768Mb RAM and a 1.2Ghz CPU). Should be able to compress the edited video into something of reasonable size in a reasonable amount of time (as opposed to the 4 hours Freya took).
