I'm gonna have to disagree with you Harle, I have a webtex bergen and I'm going off it pretty quick. Very little support on the back or waist belt, no good mount points for pouches. Gonna go for a Kifaru for definite.

Cheers for the boot link, will have a browse through the local stores.

Go the UK army bergens all other rucksacks are a fail, one of the few things SK got right was the talk of the cost vs quality of non-military grade backpacks.

Boots try hanwag avaliable at any good mountaineering shop

Gah, paratarp. I fail at the typing. My rucksack is adequate but not as sweet as the Kifaru stuff. I will be getting one eventually (when I have $500). I am lacking a bushcraft knife, only got my folder which is not acceptable for bushcraft.

My boots are ok, not the best but they don't give me any hassle. The vibrams are to replace my trainers which are giving me grief on the back of my heels. I was originally going for the KSOs as they are cheaper but that site doesn't have them in my size.

I think the current plan will be to get the knife, then the vibrams, then work a ton of overtime to get the pack.

Do you mean paratarp? Or did you get the paratipi?

In my opinion, good boots and a good rucksack are the two most important investments that should take priority over everything else. With those two items, you are assured mobility, which allows freedom from those who would enslave you. I don't know what you've got to fill those two departments right now, but my vote would be to save any extra case for a Kifaru rucksack.

I do really want to try out a pair of Fivefingers, though! Those things look pretty cool. I think I'd probably go for the KSO model, myself.
